What marketing channels can we expect to grow in 2022?
Startup Coach and Toronto Starts community leader Craig asked me live to kickoff the year, so here’s some of what I see from where I stand.
Reach through the noise and go direct
Going directly to people’s devices is incredibly valuable – we’re on then devices more than ever. I expect more growth in this year is SMS marketing and good old email marketing.
Why? Because these are essentially unaffected by algorithms, changes to platforms or media, and they bypass advertising spending.
Authenticity and trust are valued more
When it comes to the world of digital marketing and social media, I’d bet on more organic, authentic content performing well this year. That includes TikTok trends (*if that’s where your target audiences live).
I believe we can expect a continued increase in not only “micro-influencers”, but the everyday person as an influencer, including affiliate marketing and referrals.
User-generated content is on the rise, as it’s all about authenticity and trust. While you need a great brand for credibility, peers are what people trust most. And in a world of chaos, anxiety and misinformation, trust is what matters most right now.
Ultimately though regardless of the format, channel or platform, to build loyalty and grow, your brand should be consistent in your messaging and values.
